Why doesn’t this worksheet doesn’t take into account my business expenses?
It’s because the focus here is on YOUR working hour value so that you can begin to use this as a filter for your own time. We call it a filter because if your hourly rate is say $250 per hour but you’re stuck on tasks that you could delegate and pay someone else $20 to be doing, then you are doing yourself out of long term growth. Business expenses are part of the business budgeting and forecast function. But if you don’t know exactly how much each time your productive hour is worth, you will never get ahead.
The Base Number calculation is based upon what YOU want to take away from your business. When you multiple this by your productivity multiplier it brings into sharp focus exactly how much you need to recover to achieve your financial goals. We believe in the Profit First approach as well, so we look at your revenue less your profit = expenses. When you view your business accounts in this way we have found that it changes your perspective a lot in terms of what you will tolerate with tasks.
