Welcome to the August edition of our newsletter! As July comes to an end, we look ahead to commencing any work scheduled for August. Please keep an eye out for any emails from us where we might be requesting some preliminary information to begin preparing your annual returns.
Also, just a reminder that once your returns are prepared, we will send them to you for electronic signing. It would be very much appreciated if you could attend to the electronic signing as soon as possible so that we can lodge your returns and finalise your work as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Reminder – Tax Agent Update
We are updating our Tax Agent Number with a change to a company. This is a reminder about this change as we will commence the process of transitioning all clients to the new number within the next week. Our 2024 FY engagement letters will reference this new number. Just in case you need it, it is #26179868.
Tax Lodgements for 2024 Can Now Be Lodged
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has confirmed that their collection of data for prefill forms is now complete and lodgements for the 2024 Financial Year can now go ahead. As your registered accountant, we have access to this information so there is no need to send it through to us. We will automatically download it when we attend to your accounts.

Upcoming Dates for August
21 – Lodge and pay July BAS (if you lodge monthly)
25 – Lodge and pay April-June 2024 BAS (if you lodge quarterly)
28 – Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) lodgements due
28 – If you didn’t pay your June Quarter Superannuation on time, then your Superannuation Guarantee Charge Statement will be due
31 – Queensland Workcover Declarations are due

Does your business pay contractors to provide certain services? Taxable payments annual reports (TPAR)
Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR) for the 2024 Financial Year will be due by the 28 August 2024. The ATO have extended the industries that now need to report.
You may need to lodge a TPAR report for payments made to contractors or subcontractors for services. If you are providing services in the following industries, then you will likely need to lodge a TPAR report:
- building and constructions services
- cleaning services
- courier or road freight services
- information technology (IT) services
- security, investigation or surveillance services.
If you are unsure if you need to lodge a TPAR, please get in touch with us and we can check the ATO portal to confirm.
More information on this can be found on the ATO website here.

Have you lodged your 2023 SMSF Annual Return?
If you have not yet lodged your 2023 SMSF Annual Return, please reach out to us to either check on what is outstanding in order for us to lodge it, or provide the documentation that is required to prepare the return.
If your SMSF annual return is more than 2 weeks overdue, the compliance status of the fund may be changed to ‘Regulation Details Removed’ on the Super Fund Lookup website. If this happens your SMSF will not be able to receive superannuation guarantee payments from employers and rollovers from other superannuation funds.
ServiceM8 Tips
We have partnered with Clear Business Solutions to provide you with regular ServiceM8 tips. Clear Business Solutions offer free ServiceM8 account reviews and provide recommendations for improvements and ways to better utilise its functions. They are your local ServiceM8 Certified Partner and would be happy to assist you with any ServiceM8 queries you might have.
Why ServiceM8 Is Running Slow
Is your ServiceM8 lagging when you try to access the dashboard or click into jobs onsite?
Here’s a simple solution: mark jobs as unsuccessful. This acts as an archive function, reducing data search times and speeding up dashboard access.
After tidying up old quotes and outstanding work orders, use the Automations add-on to set your quote follow-up wizard. Automate your sales follow-up process and mark all outstanding quotes as unsuccessful at the end.
Not only will you enjoy faster loading speeds, but you’ll also stay in touch with potential clients during their decision-making process, leading to higher conversions.
